It’s been a decent day for the local hero Bob MacIntyre, but the 18th hole was almost a horror show.
The Scotman concludes with a round of 72 today, remaining at +6.
On 18, MacIntyre hit his drive down the left side of the hole, landing precariously close to the lip of one of the many deep and open bunkers.
Given he’s a left-hander, MacIntyre simply did not have the stance to take the shot on, and instead hit the club backwards from a conventional right-hand stance.
The swing looked great, but the result didn’t. The ball sliced dramatically right and hit the sponsor boardings below the grandstand, and landed in the fescue.
Groans and moans were heard, yet MacIntyre somehow got up and down from the awkward lie, and secured a par finish.
